Ever since she photobombed Tinie Tempah’s photoshoot by TY Bello in Yaba, Lagos, 27-year-old Olajumoke Orisaguna has been a major talking point in Nigeria and beyond. From featuring in local and international media, to getting several endorsement deals, the bread seller turned model has been an inspiration to many.
The story of Promise the shoe-rack hawker also captivates some people. He was hawking his wares in Ikeja, also in Lagos, when the Five Star Music crew led by Kcee, found and gave him N300,000 and a new car.
Social media users have referenced both beneficiaries, showing the similarities of the two individuals as hawkers who found help when they least expected.
We take a look at the differences between the success stories of Olajumoke and Promise.
- Olajumoke walked into a Tinie Tempah photoshoot and a search for her subsequently launched on social media. Promise on the other was smoked out by Kcee and his crew with cameras rolling at Ikeja Along where he is known to hawk his wares.
- Olajumoke was featured on ThisDay Style which gave her the chance to tell her story to Nigerians. This ‘chance’ got her a modelling contract and several opportunities that now serve as a means of livelihood. Promise was given a cash price of N300,000 and a brand new car on the spot after he was found.
- TY Bello’s discovery of Olajumoke was unplanned for. Promise was favoured by Kcee and E-Money because it was the latter’s birthday.
- Olajumoke’s success story has continued to trend since it broke in early February. Promise’s story has only managed to catch the fancy of very few people outside Kcee’s circle.
- While Olajumoke keeps bagging endorsements from several outlets, Promise is bagging gifts from only Five Star Music.
