Singer Slim Joe who is popularly known for his hit song ‘Oti Yan Yan’ died on Sunday after complications with a kidney-related ailment. He was aged 30.
His death was confirmed by a Facebook user Kayode Jegede who says he is the cousin of the deceased.
“I lost a cousin, Joshua Olonitola aka Slim Joe of Oti yanyan fame. Aburo, it is painful to lose a good brother like you to death at your prime of fame and age.
“You made an impact in the world with the very short time you lived, you were such a brilliant boy growing up then. We shall all miss you,” he wrote.
The singer’s colleague Raymond Gbaji also wrote on Facebook saying, “Rip Slim Joe.”
Born Joshua Olanitola, Slim Joe had appealed for support in raising N15million for surgery which would help him get better after he was diagnosed with kidney failure and had been on dialysis for some time.
Slim Joe dropped hit songs in the year 2018 which include ‘Jekajolepo’ and ‘Packaging’. He later featured Don Jazzy in ‘Jekajolepo’ remix.
