Queer activist Amara the Lesbian has reacted to the domestic violence and emotional abuse accusation made against her by her ex-lover Uyaiedu, the sister of actress Nse Ikpe-Etim.
Amara wrote on Twitter on Monday night saying she was sorry for how the drama is affecting the queer community. She, however, claimed she did not stab Uyai as alleged by the latter.
“I’m sorry about how all of this is affecting the queer community that has loved and supported me since I got on this space. I’m really sorry. I’m so sorry. I need everyone who still has any hope for me and my existence to know this, I’m doing better than I did in my past, today,” she said.
In another tweet, she wrote: “One day, like I already do. I’d share with you about my not-so-impressive past, again. This time with more details. I DID NOT STAB my girlfriend. However, we were in an abusive space the first two years of our relationship and we would occasionally have heated arguments and fights that would burn us both and one time we almost burned down our entire house with the heat.
“God saved us both and we have been together 4years after that and we’ve gotten better and healed for ourselves and each other. I have a video on my channel that vaguely talks about this period of our lives.”
Uyai had earlier accused Amara of hitting and screaming at her at the slightest provocation.
“The relationship was great until I started to notice how Amara would scream at the slightest provocation. When we first started dating, Yinka would always wait for Amara before eating. Amara brought me and Yinka together and was always down for threesomes. During the threesomes, Amara would get uncomfortable and start screaming at us during s*x. She would accuse Yinka of saving all her energy for me. I remember when she slapped me. I called my best friend that night. My best friend told me to leave.
“Whenever any of our friends tried to talk to Amara about how she was hurting them, Amara would scream and gaslight them until they were too scared to talk about her mistreatment,” she wrote in parts.
