A socio-economic group January 9 Collective (J9C) on January 9 marked its 10th anniversary with a dinner.
The non-political group, which aims at influencing discourse and policies in the public and private sectors, held the dinner at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.
The event was chaired by Oladipo Onabanjo while the guest speaker was the managing director of Leadway Pensure Ltd, Lanre Idris.
Anchored by comedian Gbenga Adeyinka 1st who incidentally is a member of J9C, the event kicked off with an opening remark by J9C’s captain, Loye Amzat.
Mr Amzat said the association was an offshoot of the 2012 fuel subsidy riots and noted that the anniversary celebration will be a yearlong affair.
He urged all to observe a minute silence for departed member, Bayo Odusami (Howie Tee) and revealed that the association will forever honour him.
In his remarks, Mr Onabanjo hailed the members of the Collective for holding forte all these years and impacting society with its activities.
Speaking on the topic ‘Saving for the Rainy Day,’ Mr Idris highlighted the need for companies and individuals to have a futuristic mindset and therefore save for those years.
He revealed that due to the new PENCOM laws, the pension administration system was now more secure and those who subscribe to the different schemes are sure to get their benefits as and when due.
He said his company Leadway Pensure Limited has various packages that will be of interest to associations, companies and individuals.
There were goodwill messages from Yemi Adamolekun, Prof. Anthony Kila and Dele Momodu.
A special anniversary publication that was reviewed by the CEO of Qed.ng Olumide Iyanda was unveiled, an anniversary cake was cut with fanfare, before editor of Ovation Magazine Michael Effiong delivered the vote of thanks.
