- President hails Igbinedion’s accomplishments at 80
The Chief Physician to the President, Dr. Fortune Fiberesima, has announced on behalf of the Fiberesima family, the passing on to glory of their father, grandfather and great grandfather, Mr. David Peter Fiberesima, which occurred on September 3, 2014.
Born on December 31, 1927 to the family of late Mr. Peter and Mrs. Okosemiema Fiberesima of Opukpe War Canoe House of Okrika, Rivers State, the late Pa Fiberesima worked at various times as court messenger in the state Customary Court and court bailiff in the Ministry of Justice, before retiring in 1987 as a revenue collector in the Internal Revenue Division of the Rivers State Ministry of Finance.
A statement from the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity on Wednesday said burial programme will be announced later by the family.
Meanwhile, Jonathan has commended Chief Gabriel Igbinedion’s life of uncommon accomplishments.
In a congratulatory letter addressed to the Esama of Benin Kingdom on the occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary, which comes up tomorrow (Thursday), President Jonathan also praised his trailblazing achievements in several fields of human endeavour.
“Come the 11th of September 2014, you will be marking your landmark 80th birthday anniversary of a life of uncommon accomplishments and enduring fulfillment.
“In a classic epitomisation of the triumph of the will over the temporal limitations of circumstance of birth, you defied all odds and emerged from very humble beginnings to become not just a captain of industry of note beyond the shores of our nation, but also one of Nigeria’s most readily recognisable names.
“Through it all, you have not only remained faithful to the rich cultural heritage of the revered Benin Kingdom as one of the most senior Chiefs in the land, but you have also played a significant role in Nigeria’s democratic developmental process. A trailblazer in every enterprise you have ventured into, yours is indeed, a life truly worthy of celebration,” the President wrote.
Wishing Chief Igbinedion very happy 80th birthday celebrations on behalf of the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Jonathan prayed that Almighty God will continue to guide the Esama and keep him in good health.
