Bandits suspected to be dislodged petroleum pipeline vandals on Monday night abducted no fewer than three female students of the Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The gunmen stormed the school located at Agunfoye-Lugbusi village at about 8pm and took students from their hostel to an unknown location.
Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmus, said detectives have swung into action to secure the release of the girls.
“Three female students were taken away by some criminals on Monday night but investigations are on to track then. At this moment, we cannot give you more information but you will be briefed as event unfolds,” she said.
Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, was said to have spent the better part of the night in the school and surrounding bushes and villages in search of the girls until about 4am.
Owned by the Anglican Communion, Lagos Diocese, Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary is a coeducational institution founded on October 18, 1996.
Its principal is Ven. OlaOluwa Adeyemi.
Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, recently declared war on criminal elements in Ikorodu, charging security agencies to use appropriate force to flush them out.
