Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has come under criticism again on Twitter after Senegal clinched her first AFCON title on Sunday night.
Okoye, who made his debut appearance in a major tournament at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, has been marked out for criticism over his looks especially by male critics while female fans adore him.
However, following Senegal’s victory over Egypt, Okoye’s critics say he should learn from the Teranga Lions’ goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and star forward Sadio Mane, who may not have his kind of looks, but delivered the title for their country.
Mane and Mendy won player of the tournament and goalkeeper of the tournament respectively.
Okoye’s critics further pointed out that he conceded four goals on Sunday in his first game for Sparta Rotterdam against Feyenoord since his return from AFCON 2021.
The 22-year-old has failed to keep a clean sheet in his last five games for his club, conceding nine goals.
