Super Falcons captain Asisat Oshoala on Thursday reacted to rumour that there are plans by the Nigeria Football Federation to strip her of the captaincy.
Asisat was named captain after Desire Oparanozie was removed amid controversial circumstances in September 2019.
Oparanozie had complained about the unfair treatment of players and unpaid allowances during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
However, Asisat said, while reacting to a fan’s post about the alleged plan by the NFF, that she had no knowledge of such.
“Why is it that the NFF or coach always have issues with Super Falcons players. if it isn’t Desire, it is Onome or Asisat. Stripping them of their leadership roles or alienating them from the team isn’t always the solution, check yourselves NFF or whoever the shoe fits in there,” Latifat Ohio tweeted.
The Barcelona Femeni star said, “LMAO, I’m just hearing this but (it’s) okay.”
The 27-year-old further commented on the matter when told by a fan that it is believed Asisat does not play well in Nigeria’s colours as she does for her club.
“When somebody openly said she fasted and prayed against the captain band, how we wan do na? Check everybody wey collect after her, how far?” the striker said.
