Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has received knocks on Instagram over her reaction to the death of colleague Osinachi Nwachukwu.
The 42-year-old ‘Ekwueme’ singer died on Friday from what multiple sources blame on domestic violence.
Reacting to the death in an Instagram post on Sunday, Mercy posted a picture of the deceased, writing “it is well.”
Some of those who reacted to her post, however, did not agree with her.
Onyebara Chizoba with the username @zobicsfashionhouse wrote “It’s not well Sis. It’s not. A beautiful life wasted. My heart still aches since yesterday. It’s NOT well. We need to speak up against this kind of thing before it’s too late. Sis Osinachi would still be here if we did.”
Another who identifies with the username @maria.karlsson.68 wrote “Domestic violence is never well oh. May she rest in peace, her kids don’t have their mom anymore and their dad is arrested. Who helps those 4 kids na?”
@ miriam_boke wrote “It is not well ma. How can it be well? IT IS NOT WELL biko this is sad. This is wrong!”
Chisom Eze with the username @chisomezeonyeukwu wrote “It’s not well. Church has covered up monsters in the name of husbands. We need to fish them out. It’s not well at all.”
Pat Ughe Abiola with the username @ patughe_1 wrote “It’s not well, Nigerians speak up against Domestic violence. God is against it.”
Meanwhile, fellow gospel singer Frank Edwards who said in an Instagram post on Saturday that Osinachi’s light was put off by an “unreasonable human being” has threatened legal action against the husband.
Osinachi was married to Peter Nwachukwu and the marriage produced four children.
