Queen Silekunola Ogunwusi has called on women facing domestic violence to open up about their situation while there is still time.
Her statement comes in the wake of the death of gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu who was allegedly battered to death by her husband.
Silekunola, who is herself separated from the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, posted a message to Instagram on Monday with Luke 13:12 as anchor.
“Cry for help if you have to. Say no even if the world can’t reason with you. Because, in the grave they still will not. Don’t wait untill death comes, in anticipation for a pity party. Death is the end of hope.
“Are you hoping he would come to love you and respect you, stop mentally, emotionally and physically abusing you? If you die, that’s where hope ends. Call for help, nobody is a saint,” she said.
Queen Silekunola, who is gradually growing her identity as a women advocate, had given a similar message on International Women’s Day without saying a word about the Ooni.
“May the soul of the departed rest in peace. Her song ministered to me a lot of times and even now I say Ekwueme!!!!!!! Rest my lady rest!” She added in her Monday post.
The queen had two days before Christmas in 2021 announced her separation from the Ooni on the grounds that his public identity is at variance with “his true self”.
