The family of Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, has commented on the death of their sister-in-law.
Nwachukwu’s elder brother Richard Okekenwa said his brother was named Peter Okekenwa at birth.
He said he had not set his eyes nor spoken with Nwachukwu for 20 years.
“He doesn’t call me. I don’t have anything to do with him,” he told BBC Pidgin.
Nwachukwu was born in Omaboma, Nnewi South in Anambra State.
Mr Okekenwa said that Nwachukwu did not come for the burial of their father and did not also attend the burial of his father-in-law.
He noted that he was informed by his children of the death of Osinachi in the middle of the night, adding that he wept for her but not for Nwachukwu.
According to Okekenwa, his brother was yet to call him to notify him of the death of Osinachi.
Okekenwa’s wife said the last time she saw Nwachukwu was when he got married.
The day she called Osinachi on phone her husband was there so the singer could not talk freely, she said.
Osinachi died on April 8 in Abuja. She was alleged to have suffered domestic abuse from her husband for many years.
Okekenwa’s wife noted that after more than 15 years of Osinachi’s marriage to Nwachukwu, she did not see the singer until her passing.
