Latoya Ekemode, widow of musician Orlando Julius, has said her husband was not a highlife crooner.
The African-American made the statement in a Facebook post on Wednesday, six days after the musician died.
“And by the way, Orlando is not a Highlife crooner.
“He was a Professional Musician. Period,” the singer and dancer wrote.
Latoya had earlier insisted that the deceased was not just a Mr.
Apparently referring to those who referred to her husband as Mr. in their tribute, Latoya wrote “Mr. Orlando. Imagine.”
She then proceeded to highlight some of the musician’s titles and legacies, writing “Dr. Chief Gbeluniyi of Egboroland, evangelist, afrobeat master, modern highlife, funk, jazz, pop, humble multi-instrumentalist, saxophone master, father husband brother, engineer, computer expert, mix master, humble.”
Latoya ended the post with the words “Keep your Mr.”
Orlando Julius died on April 15.
He was 79 years old.
