A Bitcoin trader Gaius Chibueze has offered to buy Nairaland for N150 million cash or in Bitcoin.
Mr Chibueze aka Bitcoin Chief made the offer on Tuesday via Twitter on the sidelines of the purchase of Twitter by the world’s richest man Elon Musk for over $40 billion in cash.
“I am willing to offer 150 Million Naira to buy @nairaland and 10X it in the next 1 year,” he said.
“My team in Lagos are ready for negotiation with the Team! Let them know Africa’s First Bitcoin Investor is Making an Offer! We are Paying Cash!”
As part of his offer, Chibueze tweeted that he is willing to allow Nairaland founder Seun Osewa keep 10 per cent of the company.
“I am ready to retain the existing Team after payment and allow Seun, the CEO of Naira Land, 10% of the Company,” he said.
The Bitcoin trader added that his offer to pay 50 Bitcoin would be valid for the next 10 days.
“If they are ready, let’s meet in LAGOS, and I will transfer 50 Bitcoin to them after the contract is signed,” Chibueze said.
Mr Osewa founded the internet forum in March 2005. Forbes had one time projected it as the biggest African forum.
Osewa, 39, is also the chief executive of Nairaland and Snake Naija.
