Kano-based Lebanese billionaire Tahir Fadallah has passed on at the age of 74, Garba Shehu, spokesman of President Muhammadu, said on Friday.
Tahir invested heavily in the hospitality industry in Kano and spoke Hausa fluently.
Announcing his death, Shehu tweeted, “We have lost Tahir. May Allah grant him Aljannah.”
He also posted a picture of himself with Tahir shortly after the hotelier was released from hospital following months of treatment in Beirut, Lebanese capital.
Born in Kano, Fadallah was the leader of the Lebanese community in Kano until his death.
He was flown to Beirut for treatment in an air ambulance in May 2020 after he tested positive for COVID-19 in Nigeria.
