The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Wednesday, May 4 marked the first anniversary of the death of Pastor Dare Adeboye, son of the general overseer of the church.
Dare died on May 4, 2021 in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family. The 42-year-old was the assistant pastor in charge of region (youth) 35 before his death. He was father to three daughters.
The church noted in an Instagram post that Dare would forever be remembered.
“Never can the powers of darkness. Neither death nor even life. Let nothing ever separate us. From the holy love of God…Forever in our hearts P Dee,” the church said.
Dare’s younger brother Leke also marked the anniversary with a post on Instagram. “Forever in our hearts,” he wrote.
At the time of Dare’s death, RCCG youths cut their hair to honour him and also show that the tragedy would not make anyone backslide.
The family’s first son, Adeolu, and Leke, and some youths took to social media to show pictures of their shaved heads with the hashtags #PDee and #NotTodaySatan.
Dare, son of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, was buried one week after his death following a farewell service at the Youth Centre, Redemption Camp.
Among those who witnessed the funeral were his wife, Temiloluwa; his siblings; presiding bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo; his wife, Faith; their son, David Oyedepo Jr; Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel; and former Ondo State governor Olusegun Mimiko.
Born June 9, 1978, Dare created avenues for young people to feel empowered and prepare themselves to carry the mantle of the church and its mission and goals.
