Veteran actor Yemi Solade has revealed that fellow actor and filmmaker Osmond Gbadebo battled with a terminal ailment for years before his death.
Osmond’s death was announced on Monday, May 30, by some of his colleagues like Madam Saje, Afeez Owo, Kunle Afod and Zainab Bakare.
Reacting to the tragic loss in an Instagram post on Tuesday, May 31, Yemi said Osmond battled a terminal ailment for years and lost the battle.
He wrote: “He battled a terminal ailment for years. Lost the fight. Adieu Osmond.”
In his tribute to the deceased, actor Jide Awobona said the times he bumped into Osmond, the deceased said that he was getting better. Jide also said that though the actor and filmmaker had lost weight, he was still strong and sound.
He wrote on Instagram, “I ALWAYS ASK EACH TIME I BUMP INTO YOU IF YOU’RE BETTER NOW, YOU ALWAYS TOLD ME YOU WERE FINE AND RECUPERATING WELL, I BELIEVED YOU ON THE LAST JOB YOU COORDINATED FOR MURPHY, ASIDE FROM YOUR WEIGHT LOSS THAT YOU WERE GRADUALLY REGAINING, YOU WERE STRONG, SOUND, AND STILL THE OSMOND THAT I KNOW WITH A VERY HIGH SENSE OF HUMOUR.
“YOU NEVER CEASE TO TELL ME HOW MUCH OF A GOOD ACTOR I AM, EGBON MI, YOU ARE A WARRIOR, YOU FOUGHT TILL THE END. I PRAY GOD FORGIVES YOUR SINS, PROTECT ALL YOU LEFT BEHIND, GRANT US AND YOUR FAMILY THE FORTITUDE TO BEAR THIS. I WILL MISS YOU.”
