The movie industry may be witnessing the end of another marriage as filmmaker and rapper Abdulrasheed Bello, better known as JJC Skillz, on Thursday announced his separation from actress Funke Akindele.
JJC left a shocking message for his 477k followers on Instagram, revealing that they have finally agreed to go their separate ways.
According to the rapper, the last two years have been difficult for them and he tried his best to make things work. He added that Funke asked him to leave their matrimonial home three months ago.

1 The birth of their twins
The birth of Funke’s twins in 2018 gathered Nigerian celebrities from different generation all over the social media who came to celebrate with them.
Funke was full of thanks to God as she wrote via Insta-story on Instagram of her babies’ arrival.
Since the birth of the twins, Funke has been posting videos of their happy moments.
2 Co-producing Omo Ghetto: The Saga
The success of Omo Ghetto: The Saga was a redefining moment in their careers. Funke teamed up with her husband to produce the box office which did not only become the most-watched film on Netflix Naija but also bagged eight awards at the 2022 AMVCA.
The star-studded sequel became a major success after its release on December 25, 2020.
It crossed the N500 million mark at the box office breaking records as the first Nollywood movie to cross the mark.
Omo Ghetto: The Saga made history when it became the first Nigerian movie to premiere in the United Arab Emirates on January 21.
3 Prosecution for breaking COVID 19 restriction
Funke, JJC Skillz and 236 others were convicted on April 6, 2020 at the Ogba Magistrate Court for organising and attending a crowded birthday party a few days before, contrary to the Lagos State social distancing order.
The news caused several reactions on social media as it become one of the worst moments for the couple, while fellow celebrities sympathised with them, some members of the public critsicised them for their ‘carelessness’.
4 Funke Akindele and stepson saga
Speculations that Funke’s marriage was in crisis began after her stepson Benito accused JJC of assaulting him. It was rumoured the boy was expelled from school which infuriated his father to take action, causing him to lash out at Benito. Benito also claimed his father cheated on Funke, misappropriated their joint fund and the actress is not what she is believed to be.
5 Baby mama’s threat to expose Funke and JJC
While the drama with the Bellos was starting to get cold Benito’s mum stormed social media to accuse Funke of conspiring with her husband to beat her son, reopening the marriage crisis rumour.
The couple, however, tried to shut down the rumour by publicly declaring love for each other but things spiraled out of control when Benito’s mum, Mella, threatened to expose the actress and her husband if they do not leave her family alone.
6 Releasing photos of their twins
Funke has managed to keep the identity of her twins from the public but their faces were revealed by Bento’s mum, who finally carried out her threat to expose them. Like her son, she also claimed that the couple is going through a rough time and if Funke dares her again, she will be forced to do more harm.
7 Separate arrival at AMVCA
The 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) saw the couple arriving in different cars to the event. It was also noticed that they barely communicated or crossed each other’s part except for the part where they stormed the stage to receive the Omo Ghetto award.
