Group chief executive of Oando Group Wale Tinubu on Wednesday shared pictures of his last moments with the secretary-general of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammed Barkindo on social media.
The outgoing OPEC boss died on Tuesday night aged 63 following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
Tinubu and Barkindo both made speeches on Tuesday at the ongoing national oil and gas conference in Abuja.
The Oando boss noted that the death of Barkindo, whom he had many conversations with hours prior to his death, shows the “fragility of life”.
“We had many conversations and made speeches together yesterday but this wasn’t one of them,” Tinubu said in his post on Instagram.
“The most profound reminder of the fragility of life is death. You were a good man who lived a great life. Your mentorship, humility, and resilience was exemplary.
“I still can’t believe the news, but Allah knows best. Till we meet again my good friend.”
Group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd, Mele Kyari, announced in a tweet on Wednesday that burial arrangements will be announced later.
