Veteran actor Patrick Doyle has opined that actress Joke Silva would never take advantage of her ailing husband, movie legend, Olu Jacobs’ vulnerability to torture the latter.
Patrick Doyle said this on Facebook on Tuesday while addressing women who believed that Joke’s devotion to her husband was the result of his faithfulness to her during the early stages of their marriage.
Speaking contrary to their opinion, Doyle stated that Joke Silva would have given Jacobs the same measure of love and devotion were he a wife beater.
He wrote: “All those women hinging Joke Silva’s devotion to her ailing elderly husband on his devotion and care towards her in the early stages of the marriage have simply got it wrong. According to them “not so faithful and devoted husbands” should not to expect the same kind of treatment in the twilight of their lives, they even go as far as telling such men to expect torment from their wives in old age. In their little minds, they have concluded that Joke Silva shares this flawed philosophy of theirs.
“The Joke that I know would have still treated Uncle Olu with the same measure of love and devotion even if he were a philanderer and wife beater, which thankfully he was not. She would never have taken advantage of his vulnerability to torture him because it’s simply not in her DNA to do so. She belongs to the old school where dignity and honour count and were doing the right thing is not contingent upon reciprocity.

In November 2021, Joke revealed in an interview with Chude Jideonwo that her husband has dementia and it has been hard on her and the entire family.
“He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with Lewy body, it is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson’s type of disease, it affects the brain and affects the person…first time I’m saying this publicly….that is what we have been dealing…but the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and it is hard on us family members as well…we have gone through it over the past couple of years but we thank God, ” she said in parts.
