Presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi is in Osun State to canvass for the party’s governorship candidate Lasun Yussuff.
Mr Obi is presently with party executives at its Wednesday rally at WOCDIF Centre, Ring Road, Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Obi came under fire last month when he travelled to Egypt to study some sectors of the country’s economy just days to the Ekiti State governorship election.
In his defence, Obi’s media team said his trip had long been planned. The All Progressives Congress won the election.
Meanwhile, gunmen invaded Yussuff’s residence on Monday.
The incident occurred hours after Yussuff participated in the governorship debate organised by Channels TV.
There were no casualties in the shooting, police confirmed.
At the debate, Yussuff said he would push for the amendment of the constitution to enable state policing which, according to him, would greatly address insecurity in the country.
“There is little any state government can do. Amotekun cannot arrest. In the long run, we have to amend the constitution for state police,” he said.
