Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Osun State Lasun Yussuff has fired back at the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu following the latter’s recent remarks about the Labour Party.
Tinubu at the grand rally for the re-election of APC candidate Ggboyega Oyetola on Tuesday had said “they said some are in Labour, they will remain labourers till death.”
Yussuff, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, said on Arise TV on Thursday morning that anyone who wishes people death will get same.
“I pity that man, I pity him. When you wish people dead, then the same thing will happen to you too,” he said.
Yussuff added that Tinubu was simply teaching against the dignity of labour.
“The man is telling everybody that you don’t have to work to be somebody in life. I want to labour but I don’t want to labour in vain. You are wishing people dead yet you want to control the environment? I pity that man,” he said.
At the Labour Party’s rally on Wednesday in Osogbo, Yussuff said about Tinubu’s comments, “He came back yesterday and said we should go and labour till death. That is not an attribute of a virtuous Yoruba person. I described them as people with anonymous background, we don’t know them, their life is anonymous.”
He promised to surprise those saying he would not get votes in Saturday’s election.
