Ese Brume has congratulated Chioma Onyekwere who won a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the women’s discus throw event.
Ese reposted Onyekwere’s photo on Instagram on Thursday with a congratulatory message to her.
Captioning the photo, she wrote: “Congratulations girls.”
Chioma’s victory on Tuesday, August 2 earned Nigeria her third gold medal in the competition.
In Onyekwere’s fourth attempt to take the lead from Jade Lally who was leading with a throw of 57.33m, the 28-year-old threw the discus to a distance of 61.70.
Meanwhile, Ese Brume has qualified for the final of the long jump event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Brume leapt a distance of 6.81m (+0.3) on her second attempt on Friday, August 5 to safely make it to the women’s long jump final which will be held on Sunday, August 7.
The 26-year-old arrived Birmingham with her coach, Kayode Yaya, after winning silver medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Oregon, United States.
She made an impressive leap of 7.02m at the World Championships.
Brume is a three-time African senior champion in the long Jump event and holds a personal best of 7.17 m and is also a five-time African junior champion in athletics.
The Delta-born athlete is the African junior and African record holder in the long jump event.
