Duro Onabule, veteran journalist and former spokesman to ex-military President Ibrahim Babangida, has died.
Onabule died on Tuesday at 83, hours before Babangida clocks 81.
A close friend of Onabule’s family Eric Teniola disclosed his death, reports The Guardian.
Onabule was the national editor of National Concord from 1984 to 1985 becoming being appointed chief press secretary to Babangida.
The cause of his death was unknown as of press time.
Onabule attended the prestigious CMS Grammar School in Lagos.
Reacting to his death, the national publicity secretary of the Old Grammarians’ Society (OGS) of CMS Grammar School, Dare Odufowokan, described the late Onabule as one who was very passionate about the society and his alma mater.
