Police in Lagos have said an inspector was killed by gunmen on Wednesday in Coker Aguda area of the state.
The inspector, whose identity was not revealed, was on a tricycle when he was shot, spokesman for Lagos Police Command Benjamin Hundeyin said.
The spokesman, however, said that the Command had commenced investigation to track and arrest the gunmen.
Hundeyin noted that the tricycle driver was arrested for questioning after the incident, but later released with an instruction to return to the station on Thursday for more questioning.
“He had left and was going somewhere inside a tricycle. He actually hired the tricycle and was the only passenger.
“He was attacked, shot and his service pistol taken away. It happened in the afternoon around 3 pm, he died in the night,” the spokesman said.
Hundeyin said the identity of the deceased would only be revealed after contacting his family members
