World record holder Tobi Amusan has been beaten in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Lausanne Diamond League.
The 25-year-old ran 12.45s to finish second behind Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico who clocked 12:34s to set a new meeting record on Friday.
American Tia Jones came in at 12.47s to finish third.
Camacho-Quinn got her revenge after finishing third in the final of the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA in July.
Amusan came first in the final of the World Championships with a time of 12.06-second, which was initially announced as a world record, but later ruled ineligible as the wind speed exceeded the legal limit.
Britany Anderson of Jamaica who came second at the World Championships finished fifth on Friday in 12.59s.
Speaking after finishing third at the World Championships in July Camacho-Quinn said *quote* “From this point on, it is only going to be faster … I think we had the best event of the whole world champs.”
Amusan would go on to win the women’s 100m hurdles gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August finishing 12.30 seconds to set a new Games record and retain the title she won in Gold Coast, Australia four years ago.
