Oil and gas executive, Mariam Anako, is the new wife of the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
She was welcomed into the palace on Tuesday night in a low-key ceremony after brief rites at the entrance of the premises.
Anako was then led into the inner court of the palace to meet her husband and other guests waiting to receive her.
The Ooni’s spokesman Moses Olafare posted a video of the ceremony on Facebook.
Among those present at the ceremony were the Ooni’s elder brother, Sooko Ogunwusi, and his other siblings.
The new queen is expected to fill the void left by the former queen Evangelist Silekunola Naomi after she left the palace in December 2021.
Anako is from Ebira ethnic group in Kogi State. She works at Nestoil Limited, an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning company in the oil and gas sector.
She lost her father at a young age and was reportedly brought up in the home of the former inspector general of police Mohammed Abubakar. Her mother is a retired police officer.
