A Katsina-based politician Mahdi Shehu has come under criticism for his inciting comments against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
A video of Shehu which has gone viral captured him advising Christians in the north against voting for a presidential candidate of southern extraction in 2023.
Shehu is a supporter of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
He urged northern Christians not to vote for Christian presidential candidates from the south, particularly Obi, alleging that a vote for the former Anambra governor would amount to a vote for Biafra.
“If you pick Obi his agenda is not Christianity, he could be a fantastic Catholic but below the Catholicism, he is entirely for Biafra. If you vote Obi you’re voting for Biafra,” he said.
Shehu further claimed that northerners – both Christians and Muslims – are being discriminated against in the south-east, south west, and south-south.
