World record holder Tobi Amusan has reacted to her unveiling as an ambassador of telecommunications giant, Globacom.
Amusan, who is not new to making history, on Thursday became the first sportswoman to be made Glo ambassador.
She posted to Instagram photos of the unveiling which she attended in Lagos with Lanre Vigo, head of sports at The Plug, her management team specialising in promoting her brand in Africa.
Amusan said she was delighted to be associated with Glo.
“@globacomlimited as we all know has a long history of rewarding excellence & empowering Nigerians and today, I’m really delighted to be the first sportswoman ambassador for this illustrious company,” she wrote.
In the past, Globacom identified with sportsmen such as Anthony Joshua, Osaze Odewingie and Mikel Obi who recently announced his retirement from football.
Amusan set a new record at the World Athletics Championship held in Oregon, United States in July by running the 100m hurdles in 12:12s. She is the first Nigerian ever to win gold at the World Championships.
Since completing the season in brilliant fashion, the 25-year-old has signed several deals with Nigerian brands.
At the Glo unveiling, she promised to be a worthy ambassador of the company.
Amusan said, “Globacom is a company that I’ve always admired. And I’m delighted to have this opportunity to work with Globacom. As we all know, Globacom has a long history of rewarding excellence and empowering people. I am happy to join a long list of stars like Anthony Joshua, Mikel Obi, Osaze Odewingie among others. As a global ambassador, I hope to mentor and inspire younger people to achieve their goals.
“I’m going to do my very best to be a good representative of the company and use that to inspire the next generation. However, I am grateful to the chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga, for giving me this amazing opportunity. And thanks to everyone that has made it possible. And I’m also thankful to everyone that has taken the time out to attend this event.”
