Emir of Ilorin Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has expressed sadness over the death of Saadatu AbdulRaheem, mother of businesswoman and socialite Bola Shagaya.
In a condolence message issued by the emir’s Spokesman, AbdulAzeez Arowona, on Monday, the first-class traditional ruler described the deceased as a quintessential mother, who nurtured her children in line with the teachings of God.
Sulu-Gambari said the death was not only a loss to the Baakini family but also a monumental loss to humanity, due to the numerous lives she touched with kindness during her lifetime.
The Emir recalled the interventions of the deceased’s daughter, Hajiya Shagaya, in the development of Ilorin Emirate and beyond through her philanthropic programmes.
He stressed that only quality motherhood could produce useful offspring that would impact positively humanity.
Sulu-Gambari however urged Mrs Shagaya and her siblings to take solace in the fact that the late Saadatu lived an exemplary life, worthy of emulation.
He prayed Allah to forgive her shortcomings, accept her good deeds and admit her into Al-Jannat ul Firdaus.
Similarly, the Emir also expressed shock over the demise of his younger sister, Maryam Kolawole Sulu-Gambari, describing her death as unfortunate and saddening.
