Presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi says claims on social media that some eminent Nigerians donated their private jets for his presidential campaign are false.
Mr Obi said in a Twitter thread on Sunday night that although he appreciates the expression of such hopes no offer has been made to him.
“Recently, several social media reports have alluded that some eminent Nigerians have donated their personal jets for my use during my campaign. In as much as I appreciate the expression of such hopes, I have never received any of such offers.
“I pray that those eminent Nigerians mentioned, are not unduly distracted by such social media utterances. May God Almighty bless those eminent Nigerians always,” he wrote.
Obi will officially begin his campaign on October 25, 2022, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
A statement issued on Saturday by the chief spokesperson of the party’s presidential campaign council, Yunusa Tanko, indicated that a reception held for Obi in Jos, Plateau State, last month was a mere endorsement of the party’s presidential candidate by the people of the Middle Belt.
The flag-off is expected to attract party chieftains, members of the campaign council, Labour Party candidates, leaders, and members of the various support groups of the Obi-Datti campaign.
