Nigerian striker, Osaze Odemwingie, was on target on Tuesday to save his club, Bristol City, from an embarrassing home defeat to Rotterham in the Sky Bet Championship.
Odemwingie, 34, on loan from Stoke City, notched his second goal in three games to help the Championship new comers hold Rotterham to a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate.
Neil Warnock’s side continued their impressive six-game unbeaten streak as early as the 12th minute when Matt Derbyshire struck to fire the Millers in front.
But the former West Brom man had other plans nine minutes after the restart with an emphatic finish from 14 yards.
Odemwingie, who scored for the first time in almost two years in the 6-0 thumping of Bolton Wanderers last month, capitalised on a poor clearance to make the game even.
The forward came close to sealing victory for the home team moments later but Rotterham goalkeeper, Lee Camp, was able to save his header.
“It was a clinical finish from Peter,” Bristol City boss, Lee Johnson, told reporters after the match.
“He worked his socks off in a helter-skelter game. After being one down at half-time it’s a decent point.”
The point takes the struggling side to seven points above the drop while Rotterham are six points safe from relegation.
Odemwingie and his Bristol City team face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
