Actress Mercy Aigbe has said she is heartbroken over the death of pop star Davido’s son Ifeanyi Adeleke.
A source close to the family revealed that Ifeanyi drowned in a swimming pool at the family’s residence in Lagos on Monday October 31.
“The boy was inside water for too long and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital. By the time they rushed him to Lagoon Hospital it was already too late,” the source said.
Reacting to the shocking news in an Instagram post on Tuesday November 1, Mercy who expressed heartbreak over the sudden demise also prayed for Davido and Ifeanyi’s mother Chioma Rowland.
She wrote: “Completely heartbroken. May God console Ifeanyi’s parents, Davido and Chioma. My prayers are with the entire family.”
Fellow actress Iyabo Ojo has also described the death as devastating and extremely painful.
She wrote: “I don’t even know how to react to this rude shock. I was hoping it wasn’t true. My God this is shocking sad, devastating and extremely painful. Olorun Ikun le abiamoo. Haaa Noooo.”
Other celebrities like AY Comedian, Williams Uchemba and Lasisi Elenu have also reacted to Ifeanyi’s demise.
Lasisi Elenu, wrote on Instagram; “Father heal your children’s heart from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”
“The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic, this hit me so bad,” AY added.
Williams who called for prayers wrote: “Please say a prayer for Davido, Chioma and the entire family. Nobody deserves this kind of pain. Rest up little one.”
Ifeanyi Adeleke was born on October 20, 2019. He died 11 days after celebrating his third birthday.
His death comes four years after another artiste D’banj lost his son, who similarly drowned in the family’s swimming pool.
