Oba Joseph Toriola has been presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment as the 20th Ogunsua of Modakeke.
Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola presented the staff to Oba Toriola, who is the father of MTN Nigeria’s chief executive officer, Karl Toriola, on November 3.
The coronation was held at the Modakeke Civic Centre, Osun State.
Oba Toriola succeeds the late Oba Moses Oyediran III who died in March at the age of 95.
While presenting the staff of office to the monarch, Oyetola congratulated him for being worthy of consideration to ascend his forefathers’ throne, and appealed to the community to shun violence and continue to sustain the existing peace.
Also present at the coronation was the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who had earlier congratulated Oba Toriola and the entire people of the town, saying that it was a new dawn in Modakeke.
The Ooni assured them that since they had put the round peg in a round hole, the town would experience progress and development from home and abroad.
He emphasised that the new Ogunsua was a man of progress who loved the youth, and urged the people of Modakeke to support him in all ramifications.
