A spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council Dino Melaye has demanded an apology from the presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi over the latter’s outburst at him.
Mr Obi lashed out at Melaye on Sunday at the presidential town hall meeting held in Abuja, accusing him of making false utterances about him.
Reacting in a video posted to social media on Monday, Melaye said Obi acted unprovoked.
He said, “I didn’t mention his name and I was really surprised to see that type of outburst from a presidential candidate. Is that the type of president he’s going to make, just taking on people and showing unpresidential characteristics?”
Senator Melaye added, “That outburst is unwarranted, very unpresidential, unacceptable of a leader. A leader must be mature, one who wants to govern this country must be accommodating, must have patience and perseverance. These are basic characteristics of a leader anywhere in the world.”
Melaye claimed that going by Obi’s action on Sunday he would slap his aide-de-camp if elected president.
He added that Obi was provoked by Okowa’s brilliance. Okowa represented the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar at the event.
“Next time be as calm as Governor Okowa… and I deserve a serious apology,” he said.
