Grammy Award winner Burna Boy has beaten Wizkid, Davido, Kizz Daniel, Asake and others to earn the number one spot as the most streamed male artiste on Spotify in 2022.
The streaming platform announced artistes who dominated its 2022 Wrapped edition in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement revealed that Burna Boy topped most streamed artistes, most streamed tracks, most streamed albums, and most hearted songs in Nigeria respectively for the outgoing year.
The other artistes listed in the top 10 include BNXN fka Buju, Fireboy DML, Omah Lay, Rema and American rapper Drake.
Ayra Starr, Tems, and Rihanna topped the most-streamed female artistes in Nigeria chart.
Speaking in a statement, Spotify’s artiste & label partnerships manager, West Africa, Victor Okpala, said: “Spotify announced this year’s edition of Wrapped, its hotly anticipated annual round-up of the top artistes and music of the year as streamed by users around the world.
“And this year’s data paints a picture of how Nigerian music captured hearts at home and around the world.
“The year in Afrobeats was defined by the emergence of a hybrid Amapiano sound, an endless pipeline of hits, and new heights for a generation of pop royalty who are questioning our ideas of what’s popular in style and sound.”
