Singer Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake, has blamed the show promoters for his late arrival at a concert in Birmingham, UK.
In a viral video, angry fans of the singer could be seen booing him for showing up late at the UK concert.
Reacting in a Twitter post on Sunday, Asake tendered an apology to the Birmingham fans for the delay, adding that the promoters delayed his pickup time, hence his late arrival.
“Birmingham I’m sorry for the delay yesterday. The promoters delayed my pick-up time for reasons best known to them. But I’m super grateful for your patience and understanding,” he wrote.
Asake, a graduate of theatre and performing arts at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was recently criticised over the ‘huge’ cost of tickets for his last concert.
The 27-year-old released his debut EP, Ololade Asake, a project that boasts of four-hit tracks – ‘Omo Ope’, ‘Sungba’, ‘Trabaye’, and ‘Baba God’. He further performed ‘Baba God’ at a live session organised by Glitch Africa in February 2022.
The YBNL signee collaborated with Grammy Award winner Burna Boy to record the remix of ‘Sungba’. The song was released on March 28 2022 and topped the music charts for several weeks.
