Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele on Thursday met President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State to brief him on the bank’s new cash withdrawal limit policy.
The CBN announced the policy on Tuesday ahead of the December 15 roll-out of the redesigned naira notes.
Emefiele left CBN headquarters in Abuja to Katsina State to see the president as he faces pressure from lawmakers.
Buhari flew to Daura on Wednesday after his visit to Guinea Bissau where he was given the highest national honour by President Umaro Embaló. Buhari also got two major roads named after him. The country’s new presidential villa which is under construction will be named after Buhari as well.
An aide of the president Bashir Ahmad posted a photo of Emefiele and Buhari together in Daura, Buhari’s hometown, on social media.
“President Muhammadu Buhari receives briefing from Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele today, in Daura, Katsina State,” he wrote.
The House of Representatives has already summoned Emefiele to appear before it on Thursday over the policy which would set daily cash withdrawal limit to N20,000 for individuals.
