The Labour Party has sacked its acting national publicity secretary Abayomi Arabambi just months before the 2023 polls.
The party’s national working committee took the decision on Friday.
It also announced the dissolution of the executives of Ogun State chapter of the party for alleged anti-party activities.
The chapter of the party had expelled the director-general of Obi-Datti presidential campaign council, Doyin Okupe, and 11 others over membership dues.
Addressing reporters in Abeokuta, the state chairman Michael Ashade and secretary Feyisola Michael said Okupe and others refused to pay their membership dues despite repeated reminders.
According to them, Okupe and others violated the party’s constitution by not paying their dues.
Following the party’s NWC meeting in Abuja on Friday, the party’s national secretary Umar Farouk said, “The acting national publicity secretary has been relieved of his appointment by the national working committee. A disciplinary committee has also been constituted to investigate his anti-party activities as a member of the Labour Party.
“The Ogun State chapter of the party has also been dissolved and the chairman and its exco suspended. A caretaker will be appointed to take care of the party’s activities in the state. They will also be investigated by the disciplinary committee for anti-party activities.”
Farouk added that a vote of confidence was passed on the leadership of the national chairman Julius Abure.
