Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni has laughed off calls for his sack following a clash between his employer and spokespersons for the Tinubu-Shettima presidential campaign council, Dele Alake and Bayo Onanuga.
In a recent statement, the board and editors of ThisDay and Arise TV accused Alake and Onanuga of trying to bully the media.
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu has refused to attend debates organised by Arise TV and other media outfits in Nigeria. Publisher and chairman of Arise TV and ThisDay Nduka Obaigbena is a known supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Since the clash, some of Tinubu’s supporters have called for the sack of Oseni whom they say is biased in his judgement.
Reacting to this in a tweet on Wednesday, Oseni said, “Some people want me sacked. Hahahahahah Joke of the year. Pls attend debate and townhall. Rufai is not your problem oooo. Let your candidate come for debates.”
But Tinubu said in London during his time at Chatham House that debate organisers in Nigeria were only trying to make money off him.
