US-based model and entrepreneur Fancy Acholonu has publicly apologised to actor Alexx Ekubo one year after calling off their wedding.
The duo got engaged in the US in May 2021 and a traditional wedding was scheduled for November 20, to be followed by a church wedding on November 27.
Signs that all was not well with their relationship emerged in August 2021 when Fancy deleted pictures of the actor and unfollowed him on Instagram.
She then announced that the wedding was off, writing in an Instagram post on August 26, “I am writing to inform you officially that I have ended my relationship engagement and I have called off my wedding with Alexx Ekubo. I am aware that this may be a shock to many people. I have made the best decision for myself. It is important that everyone finds their happiness and live in their truth.”
One year and four months after, Fancy Acholonu on Thursday posted a picture of both of them on Instagram with a message begging for forgiveness.
“Like our shirt says, Nothing makes sense when we’re apart @alexxekubo you still have my heart. I miss you, I love you, and I’m truly sorry for all the hurt & pain you and your family went through with our breakup.
“My actions in how I handled things was out of my character. I should have controlled my emotions and not been so overreactive. I said too much, I did too much. Please forgive me, I’ve learned my lesson on how to handle situations better.
“I haven’t expressed myself properly. I’m not afraid to be vulnerable and say you, your family, & friends still mean the world to me. Losing you has felt like grief. Love heals,” she wrote.
Fancy had in an Instagram post in May said she felt betrayed by the actor but did not have to issue a statement about their breakup.
“I felt betrayed by Alexx in private but I didn’t have to release a statement to the public so I want to apologise to him and everyone that was affected by my emotional reaction,” she wrote in the post.
