Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua has felicitated President-elect Bola Tinubu on his 71st birthday.
Joshua made a video posted on social media on Wednesday by one of Tinubu’s supporters where he thanked the former governor and senator for his “selfless service” to Nigeria.
He said, “Asiwaju, I wanna wish you a happy happy birthday for your selfless service to our country, Nigeria. Thank you so much for all you do for all of us. Happy birthday, enjoy your day. I wish you good health and long life and many more birthdays. Blessing to you and your family and your kids.”
Joshua will be hoping to make an impressive comeback on April 1 when he takes on American boxer Jermaine Franklin in a heavyweight boxing match at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, London.
In July 2019, Joshua visited Nigeria one month after his shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in New York.
He followed it up with another visit in February 2020. This time, he visited Sagamu, Ogun State which is believed to be his native land.
Joshua on arrival paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Akarigbo of Remo.
The 33-year-old was born in Watford in 1989 to a Nigerian woman, Yeta Odusanya, and a British man of Nigerian and Irish descent, Robert.
