Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil, says he has been “amazed” by the progress of Nigerian youngster, Alex Iwobi.
Iwobi, 19, has garnered attention since making his debut for the North Londoners in October, scoring twice and providing two assists in 10 Barclays Premier League appearances this season.
The former England youth international who started all of the Gunners last six games, opted to play for the Super Eagles despite a late approach from the Three Lions.
And his German teammate is still mystified by his performances at the Emirates Stadium in just his first full season.
“Alex Iwobi has amazed me with the way he’s performed for the first team recently,” the former Real Madrid ace told the Gunners’ official.
“When I consider their age and that they’ve come through at a club like Arsenal, I think they are on a good path,” Ozil added about the club’s youngsters.
“They prove themselves in training, they are good on the ball.”
The 27-year-old has also been impressed with German youngster, Serge Gnabry, who was recalled by manager, Arsene Wenger, following a failed loan spell at West Brom earlier in the campaign.
“Then there’s Serge Gnabry, who I like a lot as a player. He’s really robust, very determined and with a real will to win. I think they can really achieve a lot,” concluded the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award nominee.
