Former director-general of the Obi-Datti presidential campaign council Doyin Okupe on Tuesday called for investors in a medium-sized business which would require a minimum commitment of N2 million from each investor.
Mr Okupe tweeted that he is involved in the project and that investors can be sure of a 30 per cent return on their investments per annum.
“I am involved in a project that will return 30% per annum for 5 years. You will need a minimum commitment of N2m. Individuals and cooperatives interested can send a mail to: dudugeshin@gmail.com,” he wrote.
In another tweet, he confirmed the tweet was from him to quell fears of a possible hack of his unverified Twitter account.
“My name is Dr Doyin Okupe. I confirm that I authorized the tweet on my handle concerning a biz proposition. It’s not for everybody. Only entrepreneurs interested in biz ventures wt known people,” he wrote, wrongly quoting Genesis 31:9.
He also made a video confirming the tweets were from him.
In December 2022, Okupe stepped down from his position as the director-general of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council.
This followed the ruling by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that convicted him of money laundering.
Ijeoma Ojukwu sentenced Okupe to two years imprisonment after he was found guilty of 26 out of a 59-count charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was, however, given the option to pay a N500,000 fine on each of the counts — totalling N13 million, which he did.
But he has since appealed against the judgement.
