Former Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi on Saturday night attended a dinner in Lagos hosted by the group chief executive officer of Access Bank Herbert Wigwe.
Sanusi was Wigwe’s special guest at the event.
Dressed in his full regalia as the Khalifa of Dhariqatul Tijjianiyya Group, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was the centre of attraction at the occasion.
Hours before he showed up at the Lagos event, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), said the issue that led to Sanusi’s dethronement would be revisited by the incoming administration.
Sanusi, who became emir in the final term of Kwankwaso as governor, was dethroned by outgoing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who was deputy governor at the time the monarch was installed.
Sanusi was removed on March 9, 2020, and also banished from Kano and sent to Loko, a remote community in Nasarawa State, while the expenses of the emirate under him were probed.
Ganduje also split the emirate into five and appointed emirs, giving them equal status.
