Teenage saxophonist Temilayo Abodunrin put her skills on display last weekend when she performed at a symposium held in Abuja in honour of the former minister for education Oby Ezekwesili on her 60th birthday.
Dressed in a white shirt, a yellow pair of trousers and white sneakers, Ms Abodunrin performed to the admiration of everyone.
She got a standing ovation from the attendees in the auditorium at the end of her performance.
The symposium moderated by comedian Ali Baba was attended by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election and also former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers in the March 18 poll, Tonye Cole; and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Enugu Frank Nweke among others.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Abodunrin expressed appreciation to the ex-minister for the honour to perform at the event.
“Over the last weekend in Abuja @obyezeks 60th Diamond Birthday. It was an honour to perform right in her presence and other great dignitaries. Thank you so much Mummy @obyezeks for the great privilege. I Love You,” she wrote.
Mrs Ezekwesili replied, “My awesome Temilayo! You know how much I loved you and prayed for you last year to become the greatest saxophonist of your Generation. Well, the audience at my 60th listened to you and set the pace of what the world will start doing whenever you perform.❤️ You too!”
Abodunrin started playing the saxophone at the age of six.
In an exclusive interview with Qed TV in 2021, she said that her dad got her the musical instrument at age six.
She has performed at many concerts sharing the same stage with singers like Johnny Drille, Tope Alabi, Wole Oni and others.
