Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Tinubu, assumed office as Nigeria’s first lady on Monday in Abuja.
She arrived at the first lady’s wing of the Presidential Villa accompanied by her security aides and was received by the permanent secretary of the State House, Tijjani Umar, and other heads of units in the first lady’s office.
Mrs Tinubu was thereafter guided on a tour of offices within the first lady’s wing, comprising the administrative, ICT, catering, media and protocol units.
The first lady was born on September 21, 1960 to an Itsekiri mother and Yoruba father.
She holds a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Ife and has undertaken several courses in higher institutions.
She was elected senator representing Lagos Central in the Senate after her husband completed two terms as governor of Lagos in 2007.
Her assumption of office comes one week after her husband was sworn in on May 29.
