President Bola Tinubu on Thursday celebrated the memory of his late mum Abibatu Mogaji.
Born on October 16, 1916, Mogaji died at the age of 96 on June 15, 2013 at her home in Ikeja, Lagos. She was the iyaloja-general of the Association of Nigerian Market Women and Men.
Tinubu said in an Instagram post that he would always cherish the time they spent together and the values she instilled in him.
“10 years ago, today, my darling mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji passed away. On this day, I remember her love, grit, devotion and generosity. I will always cherish the time we had together and the values of hard work, forthrightness and perseverance she instilled in me. May Allah continue to rest her beautiful soul,” the president wrote.
A fidau prayer was said at Blue Roof, Agidingbi, Ikeja to mark the 10th anniversary of her death.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his media adviser Gboyega Akosile, described the late iyaloja-general as a woman of tremendous grace, resilience, and devotion to her family and community, adding that the late Mogaji left an indelible mark on the nation and the people.
