Vanguard editor Eze Anaba has been elected president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
Mr Anaba emerged victorious at the 2023 NGE biennial convention held in Owerri, Imo State on Friday.
He polled 280 votes to defeat his opponent Bolaji Adebiyi of Western Post.
A master’s degree holder in communication from Leicester University, Anaba was the immediate past social/publicity secretary of the guild.
Iyobosa Uwugiaren of ThisDay was returned as general secretary, while Steve Nwosu also retained his position as treasurer.
Other members of the new NGE executive include Husseina Bangshika, deputy president; Kabir Alabi Garba, vice president west; Umoru Ibrahim, Vice President north Sheddy Ozoene, vice president east; Gabriel Akinadewo, assistant general secretary, and Charles Kalu, social/publicity secretary.
Muhammad Sanusi and Paulyn Ugbodaga emerged as members standing committee (north); Chinedu Egere and Dom Isute, standing committee (east), and Onuoha Ukeh, Rose Moses and Oluwole Sogunle standing committee (west).
Over 300 editors from across Nigeria attended the convention which was declared open by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
