President Bola Tinubu was welcomed with fanfare on Tuesday when he touched down at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos following his trips to Paris, France and London, UK.
Tinubu arrived in Nigeria’s commercial capital on Tuesday at exactly 5:05 pm and was received by his chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, immediate past minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola; and national security adviser Nuhu Ribadu. Members of the Lagos APC’s governor’s advisory council among others were also present to welcome him.
On arrival at the airport which had the feel of a carnival, Tinubu inspected the guard of honour by a brigade of guards. Men and women were seen in various groups singing Tinubu’s praises.
The president will celebrate Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) in Lagos.
Tinubu was in France for a summit organised by French President Emmanuel Macron. There, he assured investors and world leaders of Nigeria’s readiness to welcome investments following his reforms.
After the summit last Friday, he changed plans and went instead to London on a private visit. On Monday night, he met with his predecessor former President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas also visited Buhari in London.
Prior to the 2023 general elections, Buhari visited Tinubu in London when the latter went for knee surgery and was in the UK for several months.
