Bayo Onanuga, an aide of President Bola Tinubu, has called on security agencies to call entertainer Charly Boy to order for allegedly inciting Nigerian youths.
Charly Boy, on Saturday, reacted to the riots in France over the killing of a 17-year-old by a police officer.
The musician urged the youth to “reject a system that let them down.”
However, reacting on Twitter, Mr. Onanuga described the musician’s post as “highly irresponsible”.
The journalist said, “Highly irresponsible for a 73-year-old man Charly Boy asking ‘exceptional Nigerian youths’ to burn down the ‘criminal enterprise’, which he called Nigeria. The security agencies should call this old man to order immediately.”
Another chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Adamu Garba dismissed the entertainer, saying he should not be taken seriously.
Some social media users have also joined in calling for Charly Boy’s arrest.
But, the septuagenarian clarified in a follow-up comment to his original post that he did not incite the youths as assumed.
“I no ask anybody to go burn anywhere. As it concerns France, I feel is their Kama hunting them. I only charged the exceptional Nigerian youths to take their destiny in their hands. If the judiciary fails to dispense justice, the last hope of the common man should be the common man,” he wrote.
